  • Borough Command Units (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Tony Arbour
    • Meeting date: 25 October 2012
We accept the view, which has been expressed by the Mayor, which we directly elected members, we take the view that the most important thing for our boroughs is that there is a designated chief officer of whatever rank who is going to be responsible for the borough. That is key to us. If the Mayor says that he is going to do that, we certainly accept that. There is one additional thing that I want to raise with you in relation to this, is it not a fact that in many boroughs, certainly at night, in effect they operate...
  • Borough Command Units (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 25 October 2012
Obviously you have quite a bit of flexible working between boroughs and within your own service. Are you looking at more flexible working with shared services involving the other emergency services?
  • Reasons for your leaving TfL (Supplementary) [16]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
I would like to return to your reasons for leaving TfL early. Obviously there has been a lot of press speculation about the fact that maybe you had disagreed and fallen out with the Mayor. That would not be surprising because I would expect that you would have some disagreements over working together for that amount of time. Could you just tell us what your most significant disagreement has been with the Mayor?
  • Terms of the termination of your engagement to which TfL have agreed. (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
Would anything in that contract prevent you, for example, from revealing details of discussions between yourself and the Mayor on the reasons for you leaving?
  • Terms of the termination of your engagement to which TfL have agreed. (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
Do you accept that the overall package is unprecedented in the public sector in this country, in the settlement of your leaving?
  • Terms of the termination of your engagement to which TfL have agreed. (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
I think the difference may be expressed from our perspective that if it is a private company that is being examined, and the Chief Executive leaves, that is something that is private. However, this is public money. That is why the concern is being expressed as to the full extent of the package that you have enjoyed. From our perspective, one of the things that we would seek to know is this £745,000 bonus payment, which we understand is being paid, is there in addition to that a lump-sum payment to be paid by the 31 March?
  • Terms of the termination of your engagement to which TfL have agreed. (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
Mr Kiley, in answer to my colleague, Bob Blackman, you mentioned that you would not disclose details that affected other personnel. Are there any other members of TfL staff ' either in the Commissioner's office or elsewhere ' who are leaving as a result of your departure? Have you negotiated any pay-offs for them?
  • Terms of the termination of your engagement to which TfL have agreed. (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
The other issue is, as part of the contractual negotiation, which would not be unusual, is there a gagging clause that prevents you discussing the full details of the reasons for you leaving or the other effects of the contract?
  • Provisions of Consultancy (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
The reason that I am interested in that is, is there going to be anything in addition to the fee, which was upfront and we have seen that, up to 90 days, how that is calculated? You are keeping the occupancy of the premises in Belgravia; that is part of the negotiated deal, I take it. Will there be other matters? For example, the council tax on that property, insurance, pension contributions ' will that cover the lot?
  • Provisions of Consultancy (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
What is the essential difference between what service you are going to be providing as a consultant, and what the role of Peter Hendy is as the Transport Commissioner, and what the role of Redmond O'Neill is as the (GLA's) Executive Director of Public Affairs and Transport? Where is the line between them? Is there a line or is there not?
