  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [19]

    • Question by: Anne Clarke
    • Meeting date: 09 June 2022
Anne Clarke AM: We are not often confused, but thank you, Chair. I am just listening to the Conservatives opposite, and I am astonished to hear them calling you rude. What comes across to me is a clear commitment to clean air and I want to thank you for that, for your commitment to it, because the council ward where I live and where I serve is the poorest in Barnet, which is in outer London. It leads to shortened lifespans. We have the poorest air quality and we lost a disproportionate number of our residents to COVID. Thank you...
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [20]

    • Question by: Andrew Boff
    • Meeting date: 09 June 2022
Andrew Boff AM (Deputy Chair): Thank you very much. Mr Mayor, in January [2022] I wrote to you and asked what alternatives to diesel fuels are being used in the construction traffic and the construction efforts at the Silvertown Tunnel. You said diesel alternatives were prohibitive in price. Could you share with me why they are prohibitive, the actual costs that were looked into?
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [21]

    • Question by: Leonie Cooper
    • Meeting date: 09 June 2022
Léonie Cooper AM: I would like to start with Commissioner Byford, if I might. There are quite a lot of us around this room, including me and the Mayor, who talk a lot about a green recovery. Do you think that TfL is doing enough to increase and protect diversity across the whole of its estate and its network?

  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [23]

    • Question by: Zack Polanski
    • Meeting date: 09 June 2022
Zack Polanski AM: Good afternoon to you both. I would like to direct my questions to the Mayor. I would like to ask you about renewable energy. In 2019, we received a written answer that said that TfL were only using 200 megawatt hours per year of renewable energy. Now, that is 0.01% which is attributable to renewable sources. That figure is embarrassingly low. When you were challenged about this by my colleagues you did concede and you said, “You are right; we have to do much better[...] We do not want to wait until the mid-2020s”. Well, it is...

  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [14]

    • Question by: Krupesh Hirani
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Krupesh Hirani AM: My question is to Andy Byford. What action are you taking to ensure that both staff and passengers remain safe from abuse as more and more people return to the TfL network?
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [15]

    • Question by: Unmesh Desai
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Unmesh Desai AM: Good morning, Mr Mayor. Good morning, Commissioner. My question is to you, Commissioner. The Mayor very rightly in his opening statement talked about safety being at the heart of everything that TfL does in all aspects of its work. My colleague Assembly Member Hirani has asked you questions about safety across the network but I want to ask you a specific question about safety on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), which is a London-wide issue although most of the DLR is in my City and East London constituency. Recently, Stephen Timms, the Member of Parliament (MP) for...
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [17]

    • Question by: Sem Moema
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Sem Moema AM: Nice to see you both. My question is around e-scooters and it is to Andy. I just wondered if you could provide an update on TfL’s rental e-scooter trial that is taking place in conjunction with London Councils, some boroughs and the Government? I would really appreciate understanding how it is being evaluated before the trial comes to an end next year.
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [20]

    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Dr Onkar Sahota AM: Good morning, Mr Mayor. Good morning, Commissioner. My question is to you, Commissioner. First of all, I want to congratulate all the stations that have been opened up for Crossrail. They are beautiful and they are improving step-free access, particularly the one in Southall, where we have the Punjabi language signage, which reflects the cultural value of Southall. I want to congratulate TfL for doing that. I also want to ask - this caused a lot of excitement - when we will see Crossrail fully functioning. Can you give us an update on Crossrail, please?
