Given the extensive political opposition to a third runway at Heathrow and the inevitable legal and planning challenges that will arise it is almost certain expansion is unlikely to happen in the foreseeable future at Heathrow. In light of these realities do you believe sufficient attention has been given to improving surface transport to ensure that the significant spare air capacity at existing airports in the south east is fully utilised.

Many residents in Enfield & Haringey rely on the overground rail network but they cannot yet use their freedom pass 24 hours a day and are at a disadvantage compared to residents living near tube services. Yes, Peter, and that is the sort of response I have been getting for the last couple of years, and luckily I can say to you that the Borough of Lambeth have recently run a most successful campaign using ads; it is the campaign 'Know the Difference'. It is a campaign that Assembly Member Kit Malthouse in his role when he was head of Mayor's Office for Police and Crime (MOPAC) endorsed and commended. Thank you, Chair. I would like to take a step back as we look towards legacy. We are all aware in this Chamber that the host boroughs of east London are some of the poorest locations in the capital. 70,000 unemployed adults are in the seven east London boroughs that neighbour the Olympic site.
