  • Land remediation (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 10 March 2010
I absolutely understand that if you are going to grow vegetables it has to be remediated to a certain level and the LDA has not done that. I also understand and accept LDA's assurance that it has remediated it to a standard fit to hold the Games on. That is fine. What I am interested in is the commercial exploitation of the land and any uncertainty. You just said, Margaret, as with any Brownfield site developers would have to be aware, but the LDA told us that it is giving you this brilliant land that it has spent an absolute...
  • Land remediation (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 10 March 2010
I just wanted to generally raise some environmental issues and I think the main one here in the legacy is the Olympic Park and how that is going to be managed in the future. Could you just tell me how you intend to tender that, what specifications you have got in mind to deal with that and who you think is going to be interested in managing that major part of the legacy, which will probably be around for a lot longer than other things?

  • Living wage (Supplementary) [1]

That is very welcome. Will you actually write that into the contracts, and has it already been written into those contracts that have already been let?
  • Living wage (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Again, will there be independent monitoring, as I mentioned earlier with the sustainability issues, of contracts, compliance, and such like to ensure that it does happen, and it is actually delivered?
  • Olympic Organisations (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Local committees under the ODA, did you say earlier?
  • Olympic Organisations (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Is there a declared date for that to happen, or is this going to be a gradual process? We have already heard that the position over the land acquisition is not completely clear and is in a process of negotiation.
  • Olympic Organisations (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Would you not agree that we have five layers of bureaucracy already in this structure chart that we have seen? That is before some of these organisations come into being. There is also a tremendous amount of confusion ' certainly in our minds ' as to what these various different bodies are going to do. It therefore suggests that it is going to be difficult, if not impossible, for this Assembly to properly scrutinise this work. The suggestion is very clear that the attempt is being made to obscure the whole thing, so that if and when anything goes wrong...
  • Olympic Organisations (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Mr Mayor, can we come back to the issue of, then, what is the role of the LDA in all this, and where do they fit in the reporting structure?
  • Olympic Organisations (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Bob Blackman
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
We then have local committees that are going to be in operation under the ODA. Is that correct?
