    Gareth Bacon AM: Thank you, Madam Chairman. I have questions to the Commissioner initially. The subject of the water cannon has aroused huge amounts of excited comment in the last couple of years; I know you are very familiar with that. I do not have particular feelings one way or the other, but I am interested in how decisions are made. Is it true, Commissioner, that it was the MPS that made the case for a water cannon to be purchased for London and the previous Mayor acceded to that request?

    I am interested in the cost of running the sports venues once they are into legacy mode. I understand that the OPLC will be responsible for the Stadium, the Aquatics Centre, the mixed sports venue and the tower. Do you expect the sports venues will require public subsidy once they are in legacy mode to keep them afloat, or will they stand on their own two feet?

    Like Dee I have some concerns about the athletics' commitment in the Stadium and I think one of the major stumbling blocks to making that Stadium have a viable legacy is the insistence on retaining the running track round it. I am not saying anything new in terms of saying the football clubs do not like playing in stadiums where there are athletics tracks round the pitch and the reasons for that are all very well documented.
