  • Mayor's Report (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 15 November 2006
I have a letter here in my hand from the Leader of Camden Council who is speaking on behalf of Liberal Democratic/Conservative Partnership Administration, and that is what he says in his letter. I am happy to share that with you although I am really in a state of despair about what has happened here. Would you agree that one of the things that made the Croydon Tram Link Scheme happen was that the Conservatives on Croydon Council supported this project all the way through 15 years, up until it happened? That was one of the critical success factors in...

Thank you, Mayor. While the Conservatives on the Assembly were getting very excited and hyperventilating about your trip to Cuba, the Conservatives now involved in the administration of Camden Council were busily undermining the Cross River Tram.

I do not want to belabour this one; I am actually torn between thinking `Oh that is just our Chairman making another bonkers statement in order to get into the press'- and he rather likes doing that, does he not - and actually reacting to some of the alarm there was in the community. There were certainly serious reports in Southwark News where Councillor Coleman says, 'I think...

Moving back to capital for transport infrastructure development, we are probably only about a year away now from the next Spending Review, 2006, can you talk us through what processes of development are going on within TfL to make sure we get a good second bite of the cherry and what preparation and business case development is going on?

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross

If I can be a little more parochial and talk about London again. One of the projects halted until the 2006 Spending Review that is extremely important to London, is the phase two extension on the ELL Project. Given that there is only say a year to go to Spending Review 2006 and you have talked about the fact that you are developing capacity and putting together London Rail at the moment as a business unit, what development is going on of the business cases for phase two of the ELL extension? Especially bearing in mind that there are two...

    • Question by: Valerie Shawcross
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
To what extent is TfL keeping wider options of the Phase 2 of the East London Line under review - there may be a case for going ahead with both the Wimbledon and Clapham arm which would strengthen the core business case.
