In the FT of 22nd February the Mayor is reported as saying that he has given the PPP consortia until the end of the year to prove they are providing good value for money, otherwise he will go back to the Government and say the PPP is unworkable. Do you agree with the Mayor that this is the right approach? And,If it comes to this, given that the consortia have 30 year contracts, how would the Mayor propose to change their terms?

On the Transport for London website, there is no obvious link to information on the Congestion Charge. The information can only be accessed by clicking the 'Travel Information' link, and then Congestion Charging appears in the sub-menu. Given the importance of this to so many people, would it not be better to have a more immediately visible direct link on the Transport for London Home Page, and can the Mayor put pressure on TfL to rectify this?

The No. 24 buses are regularly arriving at Pimlico in pairs, and also leaving the Grosvenor Road terminal at very irregular intervals, often only a minute or two apart, followed by a long gap. The reason for this, as explained by a driver, is that there is no control to ensure a regular service, and drivers arriving late at the terminal start the return journey at once to try to stick to the schedule, even if another bus has just left or is about to depart. This is obviously not meeting the Mayor's objective of a quality service. Can anything...

What response has Mr Kiley got to the ALG cross party call for a public enquiry into the extension of the Congestion Charge?

At the Assembly meeting on 11 June 2003 you answered a question from me by saying 'Given that the North Circular Road on either side of the Bounds Green to Green Lanes stretch is dual three lanes, it makes sense to widen the Bounds Green to Green Lanes section to dual three lanes to remove the current bottleneck. It also makes sense, at the same time, to implement the two original grade separation schemes on the road in Barnet.' Is this still your view and why has the TfL Board decided to adopt a different course of action?

In the same answer, you also said 'I recognize that traffic congestion is a major hindrance to sustainable growth and will give these schemes due priority'. Can you explain how you did this as part of the process of selecting which schemes from the SR2004 bid were to proceed, and is it correct that the A406 major improvement schemes were the only major schemes in the bid not to receive funding?

At the Assembly meeting on 11 June 2003, when asked about TfL's smaller scale proposals for the A406 at Bounds Green, you said 'the much smaller project pales by comparison to what should be done on that roadway; there is no question about it.' Do you feel that this opinion has been ignored by the Mayor and the TfL Board?
