  • Terms of the termination of your engagement to which TfL have agreed. (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
If I could dwell on examples, there has been some press speculation about the quota of business-class or first-class transatlantic flights that are afforded to you. There has been speculation about the catering bills; some cuttings from the Evening Standard suggest you are fed to a far higher standard than humble Assembly Members, for example. There has been other stuff like that, and I suppose it may be viewed as nosiness but I guess there is an aspect of public interest as to what perks there are around your employment and whether there is a transparency and understanding about those.
  • Terms of the termination of your engagement to which TfL have agreed. (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
Mr Kiley, in answer to my colleague, Bob Blackman, you mentioned that you would not disclose details that affected other personnel. Are there any other members of TfL staff ' either in the Commissioner's office or elsewhere ' who are leaving as a result of your departure? Have you negotiated any pay-offs for them?
  • Consultancy Benefits (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
You had a new roof, but obviously that has to be fixed. Nevertheless, £108,000 for external maintenance seems a huge sum even if you had a new roof and had it painted twice.
  • Consultancy Benefits (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 18 January 2006
During the time that you have been resident at the house, there have been various expenditures on it. I believe the total, if my information is correct, comes to just over £138,000. Some of that has been external work and some of that has been internal work, but that does seem to be an inordinately large sum considering that when the house was purchased it was described as being restored and modernised to an exceptionally high standard.
  • A406 Major scheme selection

    • Reference: 2005/0099-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
Following the Spending Review 2004 announcement, were your views sought or given on which schemes should proceed within the available funding? Did you express a view that lower risk schemes such as the major A406 schemes in Barnet, which have cleared all planning and legal requirements, should be given priority over higher risk schemes which are still subject to consultation and public inquiry? If not, do you consider this would have been prudent advice?
  • A406 Smaller scale scheme at Bounds Green

    • Reference: 2005/0100-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
Although a capacity increase of 20% resulting from the revised TfL scheme for Bounds Green was discussed at the meeting between the Mayor and borough representatives on 3 February 2005, TfL now appear to have no knowledge of this. Would you agree that it is vital for local residents to be told exactly what increase in capacity the TfL scheme will deliver, not least to help them understand whether the scheme offers value for money? Do you know what percentage increase in capacity will be delivered by the scheme and are you willing to quote this figure publicly?
  • A406 and Strategic Road Network

    • Reference: 2005/0101-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
In responding to the London Borough of Barnet's objections to the designation of the A598 as a Strategic Road, the Government Office for London has stated: 'The A598 is an important route in the SRN. It provides an important link between the A41 and Golders Green and North Finchley as an alternative to using the congested A41 and A406.' Do you regard the suggestion that traffic should use this borough road as an alternative to the TLRN as criticism of TfL's management of the A41 and A406? Can you explain what measures TfL will implement to reduce congestion on the...
  • North Cyprus Holiday Advertisements

    • Reference: 2005/0102-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
Will the Commissioner accept my thanks on behalf of many of my constituents for Transport for London's refusal to allow advertisements for holiday destinations to the illegal and unrecognised Turkish Republic of North Cyprus on London Buses and the Tube?
  • PPP

    • Reference: 2005/0140-1
    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
In your view how successful has the PPP been since its inception, has it delivered value for money, and how do you see the way forward? ... Following on from that I have a simple question. If PPP is deemed not to be worth it, what alternative is there? Is there a viable alternative?
  • A406 Major Improvement Schemes

    • Reference: 2005/0095-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 April 2005
At the Assembly meeting on 11 June 2003 you answered a question from me by saying 'Given that the North Circular Road on either side of the Bounds Green to Green Lanes stretch is dual three lanes, it makes sense to widen the Bounds Green to Green Lanes section to dual three lanes to remove the current bottleneck. It also makes sense, at the same time, to implement the two original grade separation schemes on the road in Barnet.' Is this still your view and why has the TfL Board decided to adopt a different course of action?
