  • Concern (Supplementary) [16]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 20 June 2012
Boris, a large number of my constituents use the buses to get around boroughs like Havering and Redbridge because the rail links tend to be radial into town. So the announcement you have made today about the progress you are requesting towards resolving the strike is very welcome and I am sure they will be happy to hear that statement. But do you not share my surprise that the unions who were spending July campaigning for large amounts of money for working in the Olympics spent April campaigning for a candidate who was promising to slash public transport fares?
  • New Bus for London (3) (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 19 January 2011
Roger Evans (AM): Can I welcome Mr Hendy's comments about the changing approach to disability access to buses. Certainly, back in that period 2001 to 2005, I was pointing out that wheelchair access was not, necessarily, the same thing as access for people with disabilities, and the removal of seats was far more harmful to people who needed a seat. Will that process now be changed for other public transport vehicles such as trains? We have seen the removal of seats in recent years and it is a big problem to the increasingly elderly population?

What more are you doing to improve the level of coordination between Train Operating Companies and London Underground over when line closures take place to avoid situations where the residents of East London are cut off from their city?
  • Government Settlement

    • Reference: 2009/0005
    • Question by: Roger Evans

Do you feel that TfL's current Government settlement is sufficient to fund London's transport needs?
  • TfL Structure (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
Could I just ask Mr Hendy about the organisational steps he is taking to improve TfL's response to members of the public and Members of this Assembly when they raise concerns with him. I think the picture has got better, to be fair. London Underground were usually pretty good, the buses have improved considerably and it has been a long journey. Streets have got better certainly on my patch. There are parts of TfL - and I am thinking of the smaller, standalone units like the Public Carriage Office and, famously, Dial-A-Ride at the moment - where I think a...
  • Orbital buses (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
One of the problems that is coming to light in my corner of town and which no doubt is replicated elsewhere is that, as the Government closes services in hospitals and centralises them on other sites, people are having to travel further to access essential medical services. However, there seems to be no thought given by the Government at all to public transport or to parking or to how they are going to get to those hospitals. Would transport to hospitals for people who need it be considered as part of your orbital bus service strategy so the buses are...
