Mr Chairman, Commissioner, I wanted to also thank and congratulate you for your sterling work over the last few weeks alongside the officers of the MPS. It was a fantastic joint operation dealing with very difficult circumstances. I know and was pleased that you mentioned that the coordination between the two services was exceptional and saved a lot of lives as a result. I also wanted to offer my congratulations for, frankly, another magnificent year of performance both in terms of output and budget. You seem to be achieving year-on-year, that magic equation of doing better for less, consistently. I...

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 11 November 2009
I wanted to welcome and congratulate you for your new approach to public consultation. As somebody who, on the other side of the fence as a councillor, was completely taken by surprise during the closure of the Manchester Street and Manchester Square Fire Station, by the then Labour controlled Authority, it comes pretty ill to hear them now complaining about your very open and transparent approach towards your future plans. So I welcome that. I wanted to ask you, in terms of priorities, about the Olympics and what work you will be doing around cost and finance as you approach...
  • TfL Structure (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
Peter, could I just draw you back into the quagmire of Metronet for a moment. I wondered two things. First of all, obviously anybody who looked at the structure of Metronet - and I am glad you agree - could see that it was crackers right from the start and was going to end in disaster. Given that the magic circle of contractors who owned Metronet were effectively awarding contracts to themselves and therefore that structure was going to collapse at some cost, are those same contractors still performing work on the lines on Metronet? If so, are they doing...
  • Estuary Airport (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Kit Malthouse
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
Mr Mayor, would you agree with me that had the British Airways flight that crash landed just within the perimeter of Heathrow a year ago landed 800 yards short of where it eventually landed we would not be having this conversation about "if", we would be having a conversation about "when" we move Heathrow Airport? If the third runway is announced and Heathrow continues in its position when an airliner ploughs into the suburbs of west London would you please take the opponents of the estuary airport and the Members of the Labour Group with you when you go to...
