  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [19]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 06 July 2023
Joanne McCartney AM: Thank you. My question is for the Commissioner, and I am going to raise the issue of the Piccadilly line signalling upgrade. It is good to hear that you have better relations with Government than previously. We do know that the new trains will increase capacity on the line by 23 percent, but if it were to be given the go-ahead, the signalling would increase capacity by 64 percent. Can I ask you about the state of those negotiations and are you hopeful that we will get that capital funding?
  • Question and Answer Session: Proposed Revision to the Mayor of London's Transport Strategy (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2022
Joanne McCartney AM: Thank you. Mr Mayor, I think you have clearly set out the triple challenges that we are facing as a city, and you have highlighted that the inner London ULEZ has been extremely well delivered, with some drastic improvements made to air quality. However, many parts of outer London are not blessed with the same extensive public transport links that inner London is, and your MTS is about encouraging people out of cars and on to public transport, or more active travel. What will you seek to do in the forthcoming years to make sure that we...
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 09 June 2022
Joanne McCartney AM: My first question is to the Commissioner and it is regarding TfL’s Capital Plan. I just want to know how the negotiations with Government are going - and I have asked you before - about the Piccadilly line signalling and track, which is getting increasingly old and unreliable, as you told us at our last Transport Committee meeting. Please, could you just give us a brief update?
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [19]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Joanne McCartney AM: My first question is to the Mayor and it is about suburban rail franchises. Could you provide us with an update on the devolution of suburban rail services to TfL?
  • Pedestrian Safety Plan

    • Reference: 2014/3043
    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 10 September 2014
Can you outline as part of the Pedestrian Safety Plan what action you plan to take and the timeline for this, in both Enfield and Haringey?
  • 2016 Achievements (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 10 September 2014
One of the concerns I have - because it is vital to Enfield and Haringey with the development of Meridian Water and the Tottenham developments, some of the largest housing schemes for 20 years in London - is that Crossrail 2 will be vital to that. What case are you making both as Mayor and as Chair of TfL to make sure that the Government gives the green light and also that it puts money behind the scheme as well?
  • 2016 Achievements (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 10 September 2014
I want to turn now to sexual harassment on the transport network because, looking at TfL reports for the last quarter from 1 April to 30 June this year, there was a 30% increase from the same quarter last year. The British Transport Police is also reporting similar increases on its network. Before you tell me it is about increased reporting during part of it. TfL’s own safety and security report for 2012/13 said that 90% of your surveyees did not report an incident, whereas last year it had actually gone up to 96%, so that might even imply --
  • 2016 Achievements (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 10 September 2014
On the issue of accessibility, many of my constituents rely on the rail services rather than the Tube. If I look at, for example, the Great Northern line and the Hertford Loop and every station in my constituency from Haringey, Hornsey, Bowes Park and right up into Enfield, none of them has step-free access. Previously TfL had drawn up a priority list for bidding for access for all the funding and trying to support that. It had previously identified stations such as Alexandra Palace, Enfield Chase and Palmers Green as being priorities. The Government has announced that it is going...
  • Ticket office closures

    • Reference: 2013/0037-1
    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 09 October 2013
Recently leaked plans say that you are planning to close most ticket offices. Is this not a cause for concern about the safety of stations, particularly for vulnerable groups to buy tickets and get information at tube stations?
  • New Bus for London (1)

    • Reference: 2012/0008-1
    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 20 June 2012
With regards to the new bus for London: - What is the annual cost of the 'conductor' on the new bus? - Can you please provide a job description or outline the responsibilities that the conductor will be expected to undertake? - What target have you set as to the number of operating hours that the hop-off hop-on facility will be available? - What target have you set as to reductions in the level of fare evasion on the new bus? - What are you doing to monitor accident and injury rates from use of the new bus?
