  • Question and Answer Session: Policing (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Susan Hall
    • Meeting date: 01 December 2022
Susan Hall AM: Thank you. May I say first of all, Sir Mark, thank you for your robust answers to Assembly Member Russell. There is no doubt that politicians do mean well, but it is absolutely vital that we look at things in the round. I really applaud your robust answers. To be fair, Sir Steve House had started to row back, and I am pleased to see that you are saying what you are because figures on both sides of an argument need to be looked at. Thank you for that; I was thrilled to hear that. Mr Mayor...
  • Question and Answer Session: Policing (Supplementary) [21]

    • Question by: Susan Hall
    • Meeting date: 01 December 2022
Susan Hall AM: T hank you. Mr Mayor, I do not know what is happening. We have been agreeing an awful lot today, which is somewhat unusual; however, I want to bring your attention to something. All of us agree that our police officers are invaluable, as are firefighters, ambulance drivers and so on. Many of them, because of the cost of housing in London, have to come in from outside. Consequently, quite naturally, the Metropolitan Police Federation is incensed that you are going to expand the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) because it would mean that so many officers, who...
  • Oyster card information

    • Reference: 2009/0288-1
    • Question by: Richard Barnbrook
    • Meeting date: 09 December 2009
Complaints have been received by customers when dialling 0207 222 5600 and then requesting Oyster Cards information. Apparently customers were held in a queue for over 24 minutes despite the message advising they were only 3rd or 4th to be dealt with. After contacting customer services they were advised that the Oyster Cards information service are notorious for delays and that many complaints have been made. Are you aware of the complaints? Can anything be done to rectify this 'user un-friendly' system?

  • Peak Oil

    • Reference: 2009/0002
    • Question by: Richard Barnbrook
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
Earlier in the year the Mayor indicated his awareness of the Peak Oil phenomena. As such is he familiar with any current or planned study or report into how the potentially catastrophic implications could be offset in London? If one does not exist will he consider, as a matter of urgency, the commissioning of a detailed survey?
  • Rogue Taxi Drivers

    • Question by: Richard Barnbrook
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
What measures will the Mayor take to ensure public safety and protect the livelihoods of legitimate taxi drivers in the light of the worryingly high levels of rogue taxi drivers still operating in London more than six months after his election?
  • DLR Extension

    • Reference: 2009/0004
    • Question by: Richard Barnbrook
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
Is it final that the DLR extension will not be extended from Beckton via Barking and Dagenham to Rainham or is this something that may change in the future?
  • Urban Light Transport System

    • Reference: 2009/0001
    • Question by: Richard Barnbrook
    • Meeting date: 14 June 2009
The Urban Light Transport System, currently being tested at Heathrow Airport, offers substantial economic and environmental advantages over conventional forms of transport. Does the Mayor support the concept of rolling out the ULTra transport system across London or will this be another fantastic British innovation either consigned to the scrap heap or poached by foreign companies.
