I guess the one that most Londoners would find most important is that to try to deal and indeed to cut down on the number of strikes that are happening. I am very supportive of your aspiration to take greater control of the Southeastern Overground rail network because quite obviously, just on the nearby quick trip to New Cross, you can see the massive improvement in services coming through that part of the London Overground line. Actually, one of the things that I am also very keen to explore is the opportunities for greater integration of different public transport modes in southeast London. At the moment, my constituents are disproportionately reliant on heavy rail and I would certainly be keen for you to explore greater integration with Docklands Light Railway...

Thank you, Chair. Mr Mayor, residents in Havering, particularly the eastern part of Havering, are aggrieved that the toll on the Dartford Crossing has been extended beyond the time at which it was supposed to become free. In other words, they were promised they would be paying a toll to cross the river for a certain number of years and the Department for Transport has decided it will continue to apply the toll after that time. Just to add insult to injury, residents of Thurrock of Dartford get a discount for using the Crossing whereas London residents do not. Next...

The comments about Crystal Palace are welcome, but perhaps the Mayor would deal with this: do you not understand that residents of Bromley and Bexley feel aggrieved? Although safeguarding of Crystal Palace is good, they are likely to receive very little direct benefit in legacy terms, but are expected to contribute through their council tax for a number of years, whereas residents of areas outside London, which may have Olympic sites as firm parts of the bid, are not expected to contribute. I just wanted to move on to some of the lessons learnt with the Paralympics and the Olympic Games themselves, because it became a bit, in Athens, of shall we say "after the Lord Mayor's show." That was very unfortunate, I think, given the high levels of competitors and the great interest there is in the UK in the Paralympics. I am sorry I just must comment on that, because we hear you saying that all the time about every type of finance, that the Government would not dare not give you the money, Mr Mayor, and time and time again, the Government does indeed dare not to give you the money. Therefore, I do not think that is necessarily a comfort for us to hear that from you now, and I think it is leaving it far too late, by the way, to address the overspend issue next summer when we may have already won the bid.
