  • Violent Crime in London (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 09 December 2014
A couple of very specific questions here around violent crime in London. Recorded knife crime with injury offences has gone up 51% in the last six months. We have had some terrible recent incidents across London. Given the success of the London-wide firearms amnesty last month, and this current hike in knife offences, would you consider launching a similar amnesty for knives in London?
  • Transparency in the Metropolitan Police Service (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 09 December 2014
That is really reassuring, Commissioner, because I think trust is really essential for the public and we have had some really recent high-profile cases where we have seen respected celebrities and other public servants jailed, some of them as paedophiles, and their hideous crimes uncovered, and I think with this sort of thing going on it is really important for the public to have absolute trust in the police and their investigations. Mr Mayor, do you think it is right for the MPS to have a compulsory public register of interests, including membership of the freemasons?

  • Modern Ways of Accessing the Police (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Dee Doocey
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
Thank you. Could I deal perhaps with just two of the issues? First, I would like to talk about access via front counters. I think you rather glossed over this and, although you said they were not fit for purpose your suggestion, your suggestion was that the reason they were not fit for purpose was because they did not have enough people if you like serving behind the counters. Would you not agree that it is an appalling design, a total lack of customer focus from the people who are serving, ignoring the public, dirty front counters, no seats, long...
  • Complexity of Police Panels and Committees (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Graham Tope
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
The Police and Justice Bill - or Act as it very nearly is - will require every local authority to set up a Community Safety Scrutiny Committee which again will add to the complexities of the local arrangements we are discussing. How do you envisage that fitting in with the arrangements? How will it relate to the police consultative groups for instance?

  • Classification of Homicide Cases

    • Reference: 2006/0360-1
    • Question by: Graham Tope
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
Do you agree that it is inappropriate for the MPS to classify some homicide cases as `A+' on the basis of expected media attention thus attracting a more resources (money and staff) towards the investigation? Would it not be better for this ACPO policy to be reviewed with a view to removing this external driver from homicide investigations?
