Mayor, if you do not want to run Carnival, why run an event like the Showcase? If you look at Angie's (Bray) question just now this links into it You said initially in the first authorisation, that it would cost the GLA (Greater London Authority) £68,000. We then move on ' a few weeks later ' the day before the Carnival and we are told that Bliss Events are going to be paid £150,000.

This is relevant Chair I assure you, honestly. Initially, you say that the balance of £230,000 would be met by sponsorship income and income from stalls. We tried even right up until the day before to find out where this is coming, and finally we learn, last week, that it is the LDA (London Development Agency) that is spending.

Then, of course, the thing you do not say during that ' the thing you do not say ' is that a large amount of that money has been wasted by yourselves, because these people started and got to heads of agreement terms last year on deals, which then incurred large amounts of lawyers', managers', project managers', and accountants' fees, and then you were the ones who stalled on it. I have a detail here of almost £200,000 worth of work done, which you have wasted. What is the most absurd thing ' and the fact that you are saying...

Mayor, how can you honestly suggest that these people would lobby against the Games? They were lobbying for their interests. Many of them stand to go bust. Many of them stand to genuinely lose their business. I am a businessman. Sally Hamwee (Chair): I said a short question. There have been calls from politicians in the House of Commons that the unquantified benefits of the Games should be shared by the whole of the UK. Have there been any offers made to you to share the multibillion pound cost of the Games.

Do you think it's reasonable that the LDA are offering to buy properties on Marshgate Lane at pre-Olympic decision prices, while expecting businesses to buy relocation properties at post-Olympic decision prices? (Mary Reilly/Tony Winterbottom)

As you know, relocating a business isn't as simple as just moving your fixtures and fittings. You need to obtain planning consent, waste consent, and often more specialised permits, as well as remedial work. Will the LDA be helping companies with this, for example in providing fast track planning assistance? (Mary Reilly/Tony Winterbottom)
