That really is very unfortunate to hear. We know the western extension is really one of your daftest ideas. Nobody wants it. It looks neat on a map I can tell you that, but it is a waste of time. You are going to cause so much congestion in other parts of South London. People now in Battersea will be driving west in order to get over Wandsworth Bridge or Putney Bridge in order to avoid this area, and you are going to cause mayhem. Thank you for what you said about land acquisition. I certainly welcome the settlement that has been made with KICC, as it is within my constituency, and it is right to see fair treatment to this organisation. The concerns I have are about the smaller communities, mainly the traveller communities. I know we are down the way with the resettlement of the Hackney traveller community, they were expressing concerns to me last week about members of other traveller communities within the five Borough Zone. Mayor, if you do not want to run Carnival, why run an event like the Showcase? If you look at Angie's (Bray) question just now this links into it You said initially in the first authorisation, that it would cost the GLA (Greater London Authority) £68,000. We then move on ' a few weeks later ' the day before the Carnival and we are told that Bliss Events are going to be paid £150,000.

This is relevant Chair I assure you, honestly. Initially, you say that the balance of £230,000 would be met by sponsorship income and income from stalls. We tried even right up until the day before to find out where this is coming, and finally we learn, last week, that it is the LDA (London Development Agency) that is spending.

Can I just start off Mayor, by saying to you, in the words of one of my constituents, Roger Gillam, well done to you and TfL and all the staff. He talks about the fact that we in North East London are absolutely delighted that you have brought forward some of the planned work from phase two into phase one; that's excellent.
