    Lambeth and Southwark are unique in South London during 2006/7 for both showing an increase in violent crime in the statistics for the two Borough Police Commands. Why is the case? Do you believe that these units need additional police resources?

    I have a letter here in my hand from the Leader of Camden Council who is speaking on behalf of Liberal Democratic/Conservative Partnership Administration, and that is what he says in his letter. I am happy to share that with you although I am really in a state of despair about what has happened here.     Thank you, Mayor. While the Conservatives on the Assembly were getting very excited and hyperventilating about your trip to Cuba, the Conservatives now involved in the administration of Camden Council were busily undermining the Cross River Tram.

    I am extremely concerned to hear rumours circulating that the Metropolitan Police plans to close Rotherhithe, Camberwell and East Dulwich police stations within the next few years. Is this the case? And do the MPA and MPS understand the great value that local residents place on their local police stations and that shop fronts open only during business hours would not be an acceptable alternative?

    Informal contact with the police, residents and my own experience tells me that there is far more deliberate violence being perpetrated using fireworks this year. I hear that rockets are frequently being fired out of scaffolding tubes like mortars. Has the time come to seek a total ban on the sale of fireworks to the public? What information can you provide?
