What representations has the Chairman made to the Mayor about the use of LFEPA's large financial reserves?
  • LIFE Scheme (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2011
Can I echo James Cleverly's remarks from our side in terms of the support and praise to the whole service during the course of the recent events. Chair, if I can deal with that aspect first - the first part of James' [Cleverly] question - then move on to mine specifically in a moment. The Chairman referred to the Enfield Sony depot fire, but can I ask the Commissioner, given the references in the previous questioning - that I know you heard - to the fires in Tottenham and in Croydon on Monday night and the iconic image of fires...
  • City Operations Programme (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 20 July 2011
): I am sure Members will have detailed questions on that wider experience and the work you are doing to keep the capital moving and so forth. All that good work though will be lost if the message does not get out that the wider Games experience has been a success. So I just wanted to start by concentrating on the narrow but important point of the non-accredited media and your arrangements around that, and I am sure the Members will widen it from there. As I understand it, there is about 20,000 or so expected on the accredited side...
  • London's fire stations

    • Reference: 2010/0104-1
    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2010
During your periods in post as Chair and Commissioner respectively, will any London fire station be permanently closed or have its opening hours restricted?
  • Cuts (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2010
I want to return to the question of closures when we get to my question. I want, here, to focus on this question of budgetary matters. Firstly, could I ask the Commissioner to confirm the advice given in the finance paper on Monday that, on the level of reserves, the exposure for medium and high risk are assessed at a minimum level of £10.9 million? So a figure of £10 million or £11 million is the officer advice about the minimum level of reserves?
  • Budget Savings (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 03 December 2008
I am tempted to ask, in keeping with the Lynne Featherstone callout question, which budget paid for the 21 gun salute that greeted your attendance here this morning that we were enjoying while you were going on! The serious point, Chairman, is that - as you yourself said - there is no one party with overall control of the Authority and, therefore, these important matters of financing of the emergency services should be a matter of proper discussion and dialogue between the parties. You have made it clear that you personally do not want to follow the Mayor's guidance, which...
  • The Mayor's draft Housing Strategy (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 24 October 2007
Actually I want to come in on exactly this point but before I do, can I say, since there has been some hostile questioning, if I can put it that way, from other parts of the Chamber, that in relation to the additional powers to the Mayor we, from our side, have supported this. We are very pleased to see renewed or additional vigour on this subject. It is the number one issue of concern to Londoners in the polls, certainly the ones I have seen. On this question of the Capital Moves, can you just be clear. You have...
  • The Mayor's draft Housing Strategy (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 24 October 2007
OK. So the two things they are asking for are, firstly that there should be specific reference, so that point we are clear on. The second thing they are saying is that the Mayor should remove the target for 25% re-lets by 2012 from his draft Housing Strategy. As I understand it, their concern is that if they do not, as it were, get enough for their people they will not have the incentive to bring forward schemes and so forth. I have to say I am in two minds about that because I am politically old enough to remember...
  • Sustainable Management System (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Mike Tuffrey
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Just on this code, the very welcome offer: does it currently cover sustainable development issues and the other sorts of issues around wages, labour rights, and so forth?
  • Housing
