  • Capacity Enhancement Projects (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
I did hear in your briefing that you mentioned an expansion or enhancement of three tube lines. Can I give you the opportunity now to expand on that? I am particularly interested in capacity on the District Line and whether, in fact, you have managed to separate the Northern Line, and whether this is going to be done under PPP or under some other financial arrangement. p

Thank you very much for that. Still we will not have an increased capacity on the District line, which is unbelievable to travel on in peak hours.

    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 12 January 2005
At MQT on 15 December the Mayor confirmed that he had editorial control of the Londoner. However, he also said that he doesn't read it before it goes to print. Who from the Mayor's Office has authority to place articles in the Londoner and sign off copy before it goes to print?
  • Consultation

    • Reference: 2004/0118-1
    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 14 January 2004
Will you reconsider the time that TfL allots for consultation on major road changes, and allow more time for consultation, particularly over holiday periods? For example, a proposal by TfL to install a bus lane in Roehampton Lane was given only two weeks consultation period over the Christmas and New Year holidays (from the 22nd December to 5th January) which is just not acceptable for such a sensitive issue.
  • Consultation (Supplementary) [14]

    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 14 January 2004
Thank you very much, and I thank Peter Hendy for acting so fast. He told me the reason for this error was the printing timescale, which went all wrong. But this is a very sensitive issue in this area because of the closure of Richmond Park. So there is a lot of transport that goes up and down Roehampton Lane and Priory Lane and is now going to go to Roehampton Estate. That is our worry, with two schools in there and lots of children around, the worry that all this transport that cannot get down Roehampton Lane because of...
  • Finance and Co-odination (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 15 October 2003
In fact, at the Finance Committee the other day, we were told that funding for police security was already factored in. Ms Cassani, I am afraid it is the police that will be doing the policing and not private security firms. There will be extra police needed. We are on a high alert for anti-terrorism and this will quite clearly continue for some time. It is silly to think that a private company is going to come in and do this. But my point, Mr Mayor, is we are not obsessed about cost, we are not mean, we actually welcome...
  • Victimisation of Workers

    • Reference: 2002/0112-1
    • Question by: Elizabeth Howlett
    • Meeting date: 16 October 2002
I have had a complaint from a constituent who works for London Underground, and to quote, "The current dispute is making working life intolerably difficult for many of us. I faced constant abuse from members of the public I was trying to assist on Wednesday, and now I have been suffering abuse and aggressive behaviour from union activists who are trying to intimidate and pester staff who came to work during the strike. I feel very strongly that this strike has been extremely destructive and is totally unjustified." "I am horrified and appalled at Ken Livingstone's actions and his failure...
