  • Challenges for the London Fire Brigade (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Andrew Boff
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
Could you just run over it for me - because I thought I had the figures and I did not quite believe them and so I must have misheard - the comparison between the number of incidents between 2007 and 2016 and the number of deaths in fires between 2007 and 2016 and the first attendance response times again? Could you just run over those with me again?
  • Commissioner Recruitment (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Tom Copley
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
I now cannot remember whether the Authority publishes transcripts of committee meetings in the way the Assembly does but it certainly publishes minutes. Surely we can get to the bottom of this by looking at the minutes or the transcript of the A&U meeting?
  • Commissioner Recruitment (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Florence Eshalomi MP
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
On the interim appointment - and I know that you cannot make a call now in terms of any preferred candidate - I am hoping there are discussions with the recruitment company to make sure we try to encourage some women and BAME candidates to apply for the role.
  • Commissioner Recruitment (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
I have a question to pick up on my colleague’s point. It strikes me that this recruitment process will limit the people who can be recruited. If you are a senior fire person elsewhere and take this interim role, you will not be able to leave the role you are in. Correct me if I am wrong - and I am prepared to be wrong - but would you not have to convince your own fire authority to loan you to us?
  • Commissioner Recruitment (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Tony Devenish
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
I do echo my colleague’s point. In terms of continuity of personnel, would you not agree with me that when you have senior people doing a job and being accountable, continuity over a period of time is absolutely essential?
  • Commissioner Recruitment (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Onkar Sahota
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
Chair, will you agree with me that it is not unknown when an organisation is going through a transformation that it often gets an interim chief executive? It is not unheard of getting interim chief executives, particularly when organisations are moving from one sort of values to possibly a different set of values. The cost cannot be measured merely in terms of money but also value in terms of what you get in the interim chief executive. Would you think that would be a consideration playing on the mind of the A&U Committee?
  • Evacuation plans (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Lynne Featherstone
    • Meeting date: 08 December 2004
What age have they reached - not infancy?
  • Evacuation plans (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Lynne Featherstone
    • Meeting date: 08 December 2004
I did not know London's topography changed that often. You said it is quite likely in a catastrophic incident that the advice will be to stay indoors, basically, but how will you manage a spontaneous, fear-led mass exodus, when people panic? What have you got in place for that?
  • Evacuation plans (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Lynne Featherstone
    • Meeting date: 08 December 2004
How would that information be made available to Londoners ' with road, rail, Tube closures so that you avoid that kind of human panic? If transport is running at any point, how are they going to receive those'?

Has, for example, something like a register of all the private coach operators in London been established? Has that all happened already?
