My question, and emphasis here, is actually that rather than focus on the quantity of jobs, we have also got to look at the quality of jobs, and what have you. My experience of working in the East End, certainly on the local employment in construction, was that actually that was not their preference. One of the areas which you have not touched on in terms of environmental commitments is the waterways, I mean the backbone of the Olympic site has both the River Lea and canals. I just want to be clear what your commitments are there, how much progress you have made and what we can expect in the near future, in terms of check-off points.

will happily acknowledge they are a step forward on current practice but I do not think they are achieving the sorts of goals that others, including the Mayor, are setting out. Can I just ask about the role of the commission? Again the commitment is in here, which is welcome in terms of the scrutiny through the Commission for Sustainable London 2012. Will that commission have the ability to question and push you back on these targets, or is this a given now?

From what I understand of it, the environmental strategies are all pretty good stuff, and I am generally happy to support them and sign-up to them, but I am getting complaints from local residents that on the ground where works are already taking place, for example, test works or earth moving works, or works along the canal network, that the customer practice that has been developed by contractors does not seem to be consistent with those strategies; Roadways have been closed unnecessarily, trees which are mature, which would appear to have a life beyond the Olympics, have been torn down...

Can I come on to LOCOG? Let us talk about a deadline that LOCOG actually had, which was for a sustainability management system that was promised immediately following the election of the host city. As far as I know that still has not happened.

David, I am actually one of the stakeholders and also of course the Royal Institute for British Architects (RIBA) are also stakeholders and neither of us is happy. In fact, for example, RIBA actually said `the ODA sustainability policy is a disappointing missed opportunity'. From our point of view, we do not how you can call some of these measures exemplary, you know, when they will already be backed by Building Regulations by 2010. Forgive me, I do not doubt your intention to make this the greenest Olympics ever. I do not doubt that, but I do doubt your ability to do it without really good advice. One of the big issues that really offends me is there is going to be a commission for sustainable London 2012, and there seems to be delays in getting this going and the fact is you need that scrutiny body. I want very much to follow those points. This is obviously hugely welcome, but in relation particularly to the water commitment of 20% on the residential buildings- so a 20% improvement on current practice - my information is that that equates to about 130 litre per day target, whereas the Mayor's own guidance on sustainable design and construction expresses a preferred target of 70 litres. So I really want to push you back and say that the targets in here are not stretch targets. And what are you going to do to move that forward?
