  • Commissioner Recruitment

    • Reference: 2016/2841
    • Question by: Gareth Bacon MP
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
Why were proposals to recruit an interim Commissioner put to the recent meeting of LFEPA's Appointments & Urgency Committee, instead of a proposal to extend the present Commissioner's contract whilst also recruiting a permanent successor?
  • Instant Response Vehicles

    • Question by: Tony Devenish
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
What progress has been made by the London Fire Brigade in rolling out instant response vehicles?
  • Challenges for the London Fire Brigade (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Andrew Boff
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
Could you just run over it for me - because I thought I had the figures and I did not quite believe them and so I must have misheard - the comparison between the number of incidents between 2007 and 2016 and the number of deaths in fires between 2007 and 2016 and the first attendance response times again? Could you just run over those with me again?
  • Commissioner Recruitment (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Lord Bailey of Paddington
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
I have a question to pick up on my colleague’s point. It strikes me that this recruitment process will limit the people who can be recruited. If you are a senior fire person elsewhere and take this interim role, you will not be able to leave the role you are in. Correct me if I am wrong - and I am prepared to be wrong - but would you not have to convince your own fire authority to loan you to us?
  • Commissioner Recruitment (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Tony Devenish
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2016
I do echo my colleague’s point. In terms of continuity of personnel, would you not agree with me that when you have senior people doing a job and being accountable, continuity over a period of time is absolutely essential?
  • Access to primary and community health care

    • Reference: 2014/2282
    • Question by: Steve O'Connell
    • Meeting date: 18 June 2014
How can access be improved to primary and community health care, and how will this benefit patients and health care in London?
  • Impact of air pollution on Londoner’s health (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Steve O'Connell
    • Meeting date: 18 June 2014
Steve O’Connell AM: It certainly is, as I have said in this Chamber from time to time, that the Mayor gets beaten up around his policy on air quality but it is reassuring to hear that your comments are that we have the right leadership and the right set of proposals, although we do indeed need to accelerate that improvement across London. I pick up your point, which I welcome, that it would be good to perhaps compare and contrast London boroughs and their performance because we very much need to drill down on how boroughs can perform and, in...
  • Promoting unhealthy lifestyles (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Steve O'Connell
    • Meeting date: 18 June 2014
Steve O’Connell AM: If I could ask a question on a slightly more positive note, the other side of the coin, getting away from nutrition and American multinational companies, is about activity and exercise. Professor the Lord Darzi (Chair, London Health Commission): Absolutely. Steve O’Connell AM: That is something I would like you to comment on because there has been for far too long a generational shift in schools perhaps away from good activities, particularly in schools in areas of deprivation, it often is the case. Will you be commenting and observing on that in your recommendations?
