Mr Mayor, on 25 July there was an item on Crossrail in the private section of the TfL Board, which you chair, as well as the public section. Were any concerns raised? Florence Eshalomi AM: Mike, obviously there are still major ambitions in TfL’s finances and the TfL budget in terms of Crossrail 2. TfL has said it will be able to pay for half of Crossrail 2. Do you think this would still be the case, given we are seeing a delay in Crossrail 1?

We know that urgent attention is needed to deal even with the current overcrowding, let alone with the overcrowding that will come from the new Crossrail passengers. The fact is, surely, that government, particularly local government, has been changing very considerably over recent years. That is accepted. I would like to know what plans are in place to make sure that the same mistakes do not happen again when there is a new Chairman appointed. I think it is very clear, certainly to me, that Mr Lemley has done much more damage to his own reputation by his extraordinary behaviour since he left, than could ever have been done by the involvement with the Games. I wanted to know how it was going to be made sure that whoever is appointed next time, and whoever is going to appoint them - presumably the Mayor and the Secretary...
