I thank Jenny for putting this question on the agenda. I know of her involvement given that she was at the launch on 20 November of the Mayor's second annual report of the pan-London Domestic Violence Forum. Clearly, this is not a London-only issue. One of the things the MPS does is lead the rest of the police service, as it has done, to get that ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) position. Will you be giving your commitment to lead the rest of the service nationally to ensure this matter stays at the top of the policing agenda because they are the first point of call for people in distress?

We spend so much time hearing about the wonders of New York policing. Sir John, I have to say that you are on record as being supportive of New York policing, but their model is this model. It seems to me it is the model that many prospective Mayoral candidates may aspire to. Just quickly on the wheelie bins. Is it not the question of how large or small the wheelie bins are and that local authorities have tended to invest in wheelie bins that have turned out to be far too big, that people can shove everything in. If instead they had gone for smaller bins it would have created a lot less problems. When they look at replacing bins, as part of the general replacement programme, they need to look at the smaller size in place of the big ones.

Are you aware that the Thermoselect HTR (High Temperature Recycling) flagship Plant at Karlsruhe, (quoted in the Draft Waste Strategy as having `emissions of less than 10% of those permitted by the German Regulations') was closed down in October 2000 for at least seven months because of a breach of German emission regulations? How will this affect the Waste Strategy's stance on new combustion technologies? .

So other changes will be made during the public consultation stage, not during the Assembly consultation stage? You'll really just be noting the London Waste Action stakeholder dialogue comments at the moment, you won't be making any changes on those until they go to public consultation?

So you think there's generally no problem then? It's the sort of plant that you'd like to see research in for getting in to London then?
