    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2008
First of all a specific point: there are standard phrases which occur in a number of paragraphs of the review, one that the review has identified weaknesses, in effect, in procedures which are now being addressed and, second, the point is made, I think, on three or four occasions about the way in which the Mayoral advisory role is conducted in respect of programme delivery should be clarified. • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2008
Very well, Mr Lewis. Why did you then put out a press release which is put in these terms, in the light of what Mr Travers has just told us and in the light of the report which I take it you had read: 'Allegations of LDA corruption false'? Referring to the allegations in the first paragraph it says, 'The review finds these to be unfounded'? It does not do anything of the kind, does it?

  • Approving and Planning Foreign Travel (Supplementary) [12]

    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 14 March 2007
I think it would be quite helpful if you could say the criteria that he used for the trips that are accepted and those that are rejected, in terms of the planning side. Obviously at the moment we have understood from your answer to Mr Biggs' questions that you do not accept all the invitations, and presumably you are not proactive, but what are the criteria you use to decide?

    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 14 March 2007
I certainly do not characterise Monsieur Delanoe [Mayor of Paris] as an extremist. I do not think he has ever, even in his youth, advocated arming workers' militias or anything of that kind, Mr Ross.
