Mr Mayor, on 25 July there was an item on Crossrail in the private section of the TfL Board, which you chair, as well as the public section. Were any concerns raised? As Simon has outlined, the programme is building up and you are getting concerned. Were any concerns raised there about the possibility of delay in the opening?

Florence Eshalomi AM: Mike, obviously there are still major ambitions in TfL’s finances and the TfL budget in terms of Crossrail 2. TfL has said it will be able to pay for half of Crossrail 2. Do you think this would still be the case, given we are seeing a delay in Crossrail 1?

Caroline Russell AM: OK. I am going to ask Mike now. The status quo on Oxford Street is not OK. We know that urgent attention is needed to deal even with the current overcrowding, let alone with the overcrowding that will come from the new Crossrail passengers. Has TfL done a Healthy Streets check on Oxford Street in its current condition, and if not, will you?

I mentioned about the hospital because in times of illness, that is something that stays with people, because of all the other factors, but there are other spin-offs as well. Somebody told me recently that when you look at elders, they are not able to use the holiday schemes that are on offer, because many of those--

Do you know that is a bit rich, really, coming from you, saying that things are being dealt with for party political reasons. Many people would say that the London Plan and your amendment is driving forward a political agenda; for example, your policy relating to affordable housing. That is a political matter. In the opening statement which you made this morning, you talked about your casual attitude to events being rather more casual than, how shall I put it, more formal parts of Government. The truth of the matter is -

Finally, you mentioned as well that it is not just about tackling the issue of low pay here, but it is making sure that people are paid a decent wage for all work done in relation to the Olympics. Therefore, in terms of merchandise being imported and so on, will you be making sure that there are guarantees that that is not through sweatshop labour, and that there are principles of fair trade, fair pay, and so on incorporated into that?

Would you not agree with the me that, actually, the approach to take now is to sweep away this bureaucracy and have exactly what you have said: a simple organisation that everyone can understand, so if things go wrong, we know who to look to, rather than it being obscured all over the place?
