There are not going to be. Okay, fine.
  • Local Community Interests (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: John Biggs
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
I think I meant London citizens in lower case, rather than that particular organisation.
  • Outer London Boroughs (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
I am glad to hear that, and I suspect a lot of local authorities will be competing amongst themselves for which countries to host. Could you just keep me informed about those developments, because it is quite a critical one that we need to keep an eye on.
  • Olympic Legacy (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Yes, was that a big `yes'?
  • Olympic Legacy (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Mr Mayor, I am looking at the cultural legacy from the Olympics. Funding for arts and culture in London is already hard pressed, as you know, especially that that is dished out through the Association of London Government (ALG) and the London boroughs. How are we going to fund the cultural legacy? Is that going to be to the disadvantage of arts organisations which are currently funded from the public sector?
  • Olympic Legacy (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
I must ask you about East Marsh. I cannot meet you without asking this question. Sally Hamwee (Chair): If it is about legacy. Jennette Arnold (AM): It is about legacy. Can you, once again, assure the people of Hackney that East Marsh will be restored to parkland after the Olympic Games? Are you able to give a timescale for this and for the further improvements that have been promised, specifically, a land bridge, improved football facilities, and replacement land for the Arena Fields?
  • Olympic facilities outside of the Lee Valley (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Murad Qureshi
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Thank you for that response, Mayor. Most of the other venues outside of the Olympic Village itself are outside of the local government structures. I was just wondering, whilst we have heard good words and deeds from the various venues, how we can make sure that there are other mechanisms for them to be accountable. Have bodies like Sport England a role to play in this?
  • Compulsory Purchase (Supplementary) [16]

    • Question by: Tony Arbour
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
): I am extremely sorry, Mr Mayor, for you to suggest that people who are fighting for their own interests are behaving politically. They are behaving sensibly, in the way I suspect that you would have done, if you were in that position. I have in front of me a letter from the LDA, dated 2 September, on this question of professional costs which are likely to be incurred with regard to business relocation. This letter tells me that you actually estimate that you will be spending £5 million on professional fees relating to businesses' location. As a matter of...
  • Compulsory Purchase (Supplementary) [20]

    • Question by: Tony Arbour
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
When you say, `in exactly the same way,' the appeal initially, therefore, from a decision of the ODA, will go to the inspector and then to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). Is that how it will work?
  • Sustainable Management System (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Darren Johnson
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Just on that point about the sustainability issues within the procurement document: will contracts be independently appraised before they are let, say, by the London Sustainable Development Commission (LSDC) or something like that?
