    • Meeting date: 14 January 2004
Tomorrow, at your Surface Transport Panel at Transport for London there is going to be a discussion around future measures for siting traffic signals in Boroughs and the conflict there has been between Transport for London and boroughs over priorities up to that point. Can you just update us on what the situation is and how you are going to be satisfying Boroughs' concerns?
  • Stratford (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 14 January 2004
Thank you, Chair. It is good to see the Mayor's support for these measures, which will help people who drive their cars and who are passengers in them in East London. It is interesting in the Mayor's response to Jenny (Jones) that he consistently says that working class people do not have cars, when all the evidence suggests that actually very often they are more dependent on their cars than people with higher incomes. Would you consider doing some research on that and changing your viewpoint, Mayor, because it really does not reflect reality?
  • Stratford (Supplementary) [4]

Can you give us an update on the proposal to build a coach park on East Marsh in Hackney, which is probably even closer to Stratford than Poplar?
  • Transport (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 15 October 2003
You talk about encouraging other forms of transport apart from car use. The plan you have includes minimal parking at the venues and for people to travel there by public transport. Has your model taken into account the experience of the Millennium Dome where this happened? The lack of parking spaces meant there was actually a lack of people who went there. Or, indeed, there is the experience we have had with this building where people find it very difficult to get here. You can witness all the empty seats today because there is nowhere for them to stop.
