  • Review process of LDA funding (Supplementary) [25]

    • Question by: Tony Arbour
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2008
So you are telling the Assembly that, simply based on the information that you held in your records, on the assumption that all of your records were complete, you were able to come to a conclusion with regard to what Brenda Stern said, that as far as you were concerned there is no case to answer? Would not the obvious thing for you to have done have been to go to the source of the allegations? Is that not an elementary thing to do? Why did you limit your investigation just to the material which you say that you hold?

  • Infrastructure in the Thames Gateway

    • Reference: 2004/0228-1
    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 17 March 2004
Where the Thames Gateway is concerned, we have not heard much about the provision of infrastructure apart from plans for transport in the area. What plans are there to provide gas and other necessary infrastructure in the Thames Gateway? Furthermore, the Thames Gateway area has a known risk of flooding and this being so, how does the LDA propose to defend development in Thames Gateway from this risk? .

  • LDA Leadership in East London (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 17 March 2004
Recently I paid a visit to one of your flagship projects, the Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing and Engineering (CEME), which is just inside my own constituency in Havering. I was impressed with the building, which is quite a smart piece of architecture, but there were a lot of problems with the running of the building, rather like any new building these days it would seem. When I went the heating was not working; there was a lot of space that was under-utilised. What is being done to actually make that place work properly, and to get more involvement from...

    • Question by: Roger Evans

Something else that I was concerned about when I visited was the condition of a lot of the equipment that is used for training there. I was told by one of the managers there that one of their visitors had recognised some of the machinery as what he used to use at Ford before he retired. Now, clearly that is not what we should be expecting from a centre of excellence. Will that be something that will be addressed sooner rather than later?
  • Infrastructure in the Thames Gateway (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Bob Neill
    • Meeting date: 17 March 2004
To save time here, I would be grateful if we could be sent that costing assessment, and if you also have any assessment of the costing, as you rightly say, of the social and health infrastructure, that would be helpful

  • Infrastructure in the Thames Gateway (Supplementary) [5]

That would be helpful for the Assembly to have. The final question I wanted to ask was this: given that much of the infrastructure and demands do not stop at the Greater London boundary, what joint work has been done with, for example, Essex and Kent County Councils and the surrounding regions to see (a) what can be done to make sure that the infrastructure provision is properly aligned and (b) what economies of scale and what joint lobbying work can be done to advance the Gateway issue?
