I was struck by the fact that so much legacy is going to be wrapped around Sport England and the role they are going to play in the sporting legacy. Of course, I suspect there is a problem here, is there not, because of the fact that they are, to a large extent, dependent on Lottery funding. It would seem that Lottery funding is now being very stretched indeed, given that it looks like the Lottery is going to be involved in actually bailing out large overspends should they happen. I think there are concerns here that everyone talks grandly about legacy, but actually so much of it is dependent on all the ducks being in a row, and I think perhaps that we are concerned that its intentions will not necessarily guarantee delivery. I was specifically referring of course to the fact that you play a link between investment in public transport and the reduction in car use. You are saying we need an awful lot more, so in your view an awful lot more needs to be done before you would see car use being reduced?

I for one feel slightly concerned at the way buildings can be spot listed, bringing all sorts of inconveniences on the way with it. But I wondered whether there might be a way of evening up the playing field, if I can put it that way. The Chief Executive of one of London's larger estates suggested to me, what about the idea of "black marking" buildings? Some of those buildings that have been left standing idle, often falling into ruin, and are real eyesores. There should be some system of "black marking" them for demolition unless a case can be...

I wonder whether you can understand the concerns that I have expressed in the past about the role you play in advising the Mayor and also the fact that the Mayor will at some stage look at every UDP that has to go before his office. I am thinking in particular of Westminster's which came back from the Mayor's office with remarks written all over the place about the fact that he could not find their UDP acceptable unless they were going to go forward with very tall buildings in the Paddington area, and of course your name crops up...

What happens if the situation arose where there might not be any work you are specifically doing at the time but that there was some in the pipeline?
