  • Performance of London Underground (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 20 June 2012
Boris, there is some work going on on the District line at the moment to improve the service, which we are all very pleased about. This I think is really a question for the Commissioner. The work that is going on at the depot in Upminster is proving to be more disruptive to neighbours than they were told it would be, with noise and working for longer hours than they were told would take place, and I think what can fairly be described as an unhelpful attitude from some of the staff in the depot when the neighbours go around...

  • Fare Evasion

    • Question by: Roger Evans

Could the Commissioner comment on whether he feels Transport for London is doing enough to reduce fare evasion on London's buses?
  • TfL Financial Statements

    • Reference: 2007/0253-1
    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
Does the Commissioner believe that the Mayor is acting honestly in trumpeting the amount of money that TfL has given to London boroughs this year when, for the second year running, London boroughs have received a real terms cut in the amount of money Transport for London are providing them for improving the capital's roads and footpaths?
  • Oyster System

    • Reference: 2007/0254-1
    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
The Oyster system and the Oyster online system are not properly integrated as they have different passwords, and it is not possible to check your journey history online if you have topped up your card at a station. When customers request information by email, they are told that it can take up to 5 days, which means it is actually quicker to get it by post. Does the Commissioner believe that this system is cheap, efficient or environmentally friendly?
  • Fare Evasion

    • Reference: 2007/0255-1
    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
The Assembly's Transport Committee recently observed a team of Revenue Protection Inspectors greeting a succession of bendy buses. We were told that in a 2-hour period, the RPIs could expect to find 100-130 bus users without tickets and on every bus we saw a great number of bus passengers rush to escape from the bus as soon as they saw they would be checked. Unsurprisingly, it is difficult to ascertain quite how many passengers surreptitiously swiped their Oyster cards only after they had seen they would be checked. Is 100-130 bus users without tickets an acceptable figure?
  • TfL Budget (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
I find it extraordinary that you do not have a more detailed idea of the financial position and what we are either going to have to pay or what cloth we are going to have to cut, because it has been some time now since Metronet went into administration and it has been some time since Transport for London decided to bid for these contracts. Now at the very least, when you bid for the contracts you must have a clear idea of how much it is going to cost TfL and how much it is going to cost Londoners...
  • TfL Budget (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
In previous years, revenue exceeding the budgeting line has not stopped you putting fares up. Perhaps I can re-phrase my question in a way that you will feel comfortable in answering. Will you be recommending to the Mayor that fares increase to pay for what has happened with Metronet?
  • TfL Budget (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
You mentioned line upgrades as well, in your response to Mr Pope. Which of the line upgrades are under threat?
  • TfL Budget (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Roger Evans
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
We can discuss the details of the contract in the future underneath the question relating to that when we get to it. I would not want to pre-empt that now. You did mention Trans4m and we know that Metronet was behind with its stations programme and that Trans4m was failing before this happened. Has that programme been caught up with or has it fallen further behind in the time since then?
