  • Borough Spending Allotment

    • Reference: 2007/0266-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
Barnet Council received an 18.4% cut in TfL's Borough Spending Allotment this year. When inflation is taken into account, that figure is even more shocking. Could the Commissioner justify to my constituents why TfL have slashed their budget?
  • Prioritisation of Major Transport Projects (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
Commissioner, I am not as obsessed with the Cross River Tram as Ms Shawcross, or indeed as many of my Labour council colleagues in Camden, who are obsessed with the Cross River Tram, in the complete opposite direction from Ms Shawcross. Will you accept that there are serious concerns about this development in South Camden, in Somers Town and Bloomsbury, and other areas that the proposal passes through? Many people do not consider it a solution to overcrowding on the Northern Line, which again I experienced this morning, having to stand all the way from Finchley Central to London Bridge...
  • Staffing at Overground Stations (Supplementary) [3]

    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
On the subject of security at stations, are you aware, Commissioner, of the security problem of criminals fitting scanning devices on chip and pin machines at our tube station? We have had two at West Finchley in the last few weeks. They seem to have moved on from banks to tube stations. Will you be taking appropriate action? Sally Hamwee (Chair): I think the question is, 'and will you make sure it does not go onto the London Overground?' Brian Coleman (Deputy Chairman): Indeed.
  • £25 congestion charge (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Nicky Gavron
    • Meeting date: 05 December 2007
I wonder, Peter Hendy, whether you were aware of, or indeed were using in making the case for emission-based charging, the fact that earlier this year, I think it was around February, the University of Southern California came out with its research, which really gives the evidence for what we knew anecdotally, which is that if you live close to a very traffic-blighted road with high vehicle emissions, then if you are growing and your lungs are growing, and you are any age from 0 to 18, it does not just exacerbate asthma, the particulates and the various toxic emissions...
  • Climate Change (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Nicky Gavron
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
Can you tell us how you are setting about reducing emissions through efficiency measures, through refurbishment, and are you going to set up a revolving loan fund so that you can reinvest the revenue savings from energy and carbon cut into further investment?
  • Capacity Enhancement Projects (Supplementary) [8]

    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
I would be grateful if you would let me chair the meeting! I would be most grateful, Commissioner, if you would answer the question, thank you.
  • Climate Change

    • Reference: 2006/0470-1
    • Question by: Nicky Gavron
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
What is TfL dong to ensure it plays its part in meeting National and London Wide targets on greenhouse emissions?
  • 210, Highfield Way

    • Reference: 2006/0454-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
I have received a number of complaints about the loud vibrations that the 210 bus causes at night, from the residents of Highfield Avenue. Will you undertake to investigate this as a matter of urgency?
  • Bus Stops at Falloden Way

    • Reference: 2006/0455-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
What are TfL's intentions with regard to the bus stops on Falloden Way, given that you changed the layout against the advice of the London Borough of Barnet and the wishes of local residents, and have now taken them out of service for safety reasons? Will you now accept that the original decision was wrong?
  • Re-routing of Buses on the Vale

    • Reference: 2006/0456-1
    • Question by: Brian Coleman
    • Meeting date: 06 December 2006
A large number of residents who live on the Vale, Barnet have complained to me about the noise and congestion caused by an excessive number of buses that run through the Vale and the surrounding residential roads. Given such widespread opposition among local residents, will you undertake to seriously consider re-routing these buses?
