  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [14]

    • Question by: Sakina Sheikh
    • Meeting date: 06 July 2023
Sakina Sheikh AM: Thank you, Chair. Good morning to you, Mr Mayor and Commissioner; it is great to have you here with us. I think it is a well-known fact that all roads lead to Lewisham, Assembly Member Duvall’s patch. Unfortunately, all Tube lines do not lead to Lewisham. In fact, no Tube lines lead to Lewisham. I am so pleased for the laughter because I really worked on that one. We, as you know, are incredibly keen for the extension of the Bakerloo line that was promised and that case was made by Ifia Conteo , a really articulate...
  • Question and Answer Session: Proposed Revision to the Mayor of London's Transport Strategy (Supplementary) [14]

    • Question by: Sakina Sheikh
    • Meeting date: 17 November 2022
Sakina Sheikh AM: Thank you, Chair. Building on the conversation that we are just finishing off with Assembly Member Marina Ahmad about the scrappage scheme. I thought it would be worth, given that we have had a back and forth and were looking for lessons learned, drilling down a little bit more into the review of the London-wide ULEZ Integrated Impact Assessment. In front of me it says: “TfL is reviewing the effectiveness of the previous ULEZ scrappage scheme that enabled over 15,000 polluting vehicles to be removed from London’s roads to inform the development of any future scheme.” It...
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [17]

    • Question by: Sakina Sheikh
    • Meeting date: 09 June 2022
Sakina Sheikh AM: Good morning, Commissioner and Mr Mayor. Commissioner, I will start with you. Following on the theme of buses, but hopefully on a more positive note, the TfL Bus Action Plan aims to increase the speed of journeys. What I wanted to hear from you is how do you ensure that this does not adversely affect some groups who need to be given proper time to board buses safely?
  • Question and Answer Session: Transport for London (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Sakina Sheikh
    • Meeting date: 02 September 2021
Sakina Sheikh AM: Good morning, Mr Mayor. I will be addressing my question to you. My question is concerning creating financial sustainability in TfL by 2023. TfL has reduced its funding requirement for the financial year from £2.7 billion identified in the March 2021 budget down to £1.9 billion in the July revised budget. Can you explain what you have done to create this £800 million saving and whether you are still on course to becoming financially sustainable by April 2023?
  • Liberal Democrat questions to Chair of MPA on 2002/03 budget (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Louise Bloom
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2002
I wanted to ask you about the role of consultants at the MPA. We see that there is a budget reduction on external consultants. We also know that there are many hundreds of consultants at the MPA, many of whom we're not quite sure what they're doing; consulting on each other, reviewing each other's reviews and all the rest of these wonderful things consultants get to do. Perhaps you can tell us how the savings are going to be made and are we going to get value for money on their work in the next year?
  • Liberal Democrat questions to Chair of MPA on 2002/03 budget (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Louise Bloom
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2002
Yes I meant MPS sorry, a slight slip of the tongue. That sounds great, but then are we going to have more consultants to manage the review of consultants? Exactly how is it going to happen and who is it going to be lead by? Where will we end up with the actual results, figures, performance indicators and all the rest of it, so we actually know that we have got the right level of consultants? Obviously I accept there is a need for what they do, but equally I share a concern you have already expressed about what they...
