  • Food (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
Can I put in a plea that whatever food is provided will be reasonably priced? I know that this is somewhat subjective and what some people might consider reasonable, others may not. However, clearly where people have a monopoly, there is a huge temptation to charge whatever they like. Another thing: can I put in a plea for water to be provided free of charge because at the Athens Games, if you went in, they actually confiscated your water bottle if you had one with you. I was horrified. I think that is really important that at least plain water...
  • LOCOG Budget (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
If you are suddenly confronted with the need for extra security, and so your security bill goes up beyond expectations or perhaps your ticket sales do not live up to expectations and you have a shortfall, so you are left at the end of the day with a budget over-run, who covers it and can you give an absolute assurance that it will not be London council tax payers?
  • Broadcasting and Sponsorship Revenue (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
In the negotiations, the IOC would seem to be in the dominant position. They seem to hold the cards, to me.
  • Markaz Complex (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
Yes, it is purely speculative but clearly there is a concern there and it would be quite contrary to the spirit of the Games to have a separation for certain groups within the complex, would it not?
  • LOCOG Budget

    • Reference: 2006/0242-1
    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
The increase in LOCOG's budget from £1.5 billion to £2 billion was attributed by Sports Minister Richard Caborn to inflation over the eight years to 2012. Why was inflation not taken into account in the original budget estimate? Are there any further factors, such as the need for increased security, which may cause the LOCOG budget to grow further?
  • Broadcasting and Sponsorship Revenue

    • Reference: 2006/0243-1
    • Question by: Peter Hulme Cross
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
The majority of LOCOG's revenue will come from its share of broadcasting and sponsorship revenue, which is determined by the International Olympic Committee. What agreement has been reached with the IOC about LOCOG's share of this revenue?
  • Markaz Complex

    • Reference: 2006/0244-1
    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
There has been media speculation that the Markaz complex will become the 'Muslim quarter' for the Olympics, acting as a hub for Islamic competitors and spectators. Is this speculation accurate and, if so, would this not be contrary to the spirit of the Games, which are meant to bring people together, not keep them apart?
  • Compulsory Purchase (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Tony (Winterbottom), I have something else. The Mayor has just admitted that you use `expensive lawyers.' Those are his very words. When over 100 firms, then, employ lawyers to defend themselves in these situations in order to defend themselves and real jobs ' 11,000 real jobs in London ' they are then briefed against in the press. They are then briefed against and accused of being all sorts of things, which they are now completely fed up with ' that they are a handful, greedy; over 100 businesses employing 11,000 people are greedy. They are demonised, and then the lawyers...
  • Compulsory Purchase (Supplementary) [9]

    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Do you see my point, Tony (Winterbottom)?
  • Compulsory Purchase (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2005
Like-for-like ' is that like-for-like? I do not think so.
