  • Security During Games Time (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
    • Meeting date: 19 November 2008
You have made it very clear that when the Games are on you are responsible for the security within venue, you said, so within, for example, the Park. Given that there have been huge numbers of break-ins over the years into train and Tube depots, how are you going to ensure that public transport does not pose a security threat, particularly when you have got lines bisecting the Park, going around the Park and, I think, possibly even under the Park?
  • LOCOG Budget

    • Reference: 2006/0242-1
    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
The increase in LOCOG's budget from £1.5 billion to £2 billion was attributed by Sports Minister Richard Caborn to inflation over the eight years to 2012. Why was inflation not taken into account in the original budget estimate? Are there any further factors, such as the need for increased security, which may cause the LOCOG budget to grow further?
  • Markaz Complex

    • Reference: 2006/0244-1
    • Question by: Damian Hockney
    • Meeting date: 10 October 2006
There has been media speculation that the Markaz complex will become the 'Muslim quarter' for the Olympics, acting as a hub for Islamic competitors and spectators. Is this speculation accurate and, if so, would this not be contrary to the spirit of the Games, which are meant to bring people together, not keep them apart?
