  • Meagre benefits from a third runway (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 08 September 2015
Joanne McCartney AM: Can we move to issues raised in chapter 7, the economic impacts assessment, and in particular the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) report into the wider economic benefits of Heathrow? I understand that you put the PwC report out to your expert panel to do a peer review and it came back. If I can quote from its report, it said, “We counsel caution in attaching significant weight either to the absolute or relative results of the ... PwC report”, and stated that the methodology used was “unique or at least very unusual”. Yet your final report quotes extensively from...

I was going to make a plug for us to have a base in Enfield and Haringey. Can I also a ask that when you are looking at this you look at some of the hot spots, particularly around schools? Right down the Hertford Road and the A10 in Enfield we have something like five secondary schools coming out on to the same bus routes, and I think that needs to be factored in to where you base 'Transport Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

Can I just check, these are for outer London and I understand they are going to be based in certain boroughs but be a `transport flying squad' and go round where the need arises?
  • Transport Safer Neighbourhood Teams (2) (Supplementary) [10]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
A number of the issues I was going to raise have been dealt with but I wanted to ask about what the Commissioner has just said. TfL, as I understand it, are paying for the PCSOs and that is on the basis of the map of crime that they have, that is evidence based. It is about the boundaries. How then are you going to modify that? You have already taken on some views like Jo (McCartney) asking for an extension there. Do you not think it would be reasonable to stay with the evidence and so we know that...

These extra 375 officers which have been recruited. When are they envisaged to be in place?
  • Metropolitan Police Property (Supplementary) [5]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
The base in Enfield is very welcome, I know that. We have the estate strategy, and we then have the Safer Neighbourhood offices opening up, and there seems to be two strategies running alongside. I want to check that they are coordinated, so that when you are leases you are looking at that wide strategy at the same time as well?
  • Metropolitan Police Property (Supplementary) [6]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 08 November 2006
One of the things about these big old iconic police stations is that they are permanent. I think people are concerned that if a police station is not fit for purpose there is that worry then we will just put it in places temporarily. Can we have an assurance that if any station is decommissioned that services will be provided in a local area so that people will be able to report crimes locally?
  • Binge-Drinking (Supplementary) [1]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 15 June 2005
-- 32% of licensed premises were found to be selling to under 18s. I am just wondering where that is in your priorities, and what resources you are putting in to that area?
  • Binge-Drinking (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Joanne McCartney
    • Meeting date: 15 June 2005
The final area I want to explore with regard to children - young people binge-drinking is underage drinking. I think from the figures that I have, the number of underage children that are drinking has remained about steady for the last 10 to 15 years, but the amount of alcohol they are drinking has almost doubled in that period, and also, you touched on this earlier, that alcohol-fuelled crime, and I know that from some of the operations that have taken place with the police and local boroughs that, for example, over the Christmas and New Year period, I understand...
