  • Art Council England Funding (1)

    • Reference: 2015/2449
    • Question by: Fiona Twycross
    • Meeting date: 15 July 2015
There have been calls for a rebalancing of Arts Council funding away from London to the rest of the country. The case needs to be made that Londoners have lower levels of cultural participation than the rest of the country, and there is a wide variation between boroughs across the capital. In 2007, the Mayor of London was given powers to appoint members of the London Regional Council of Arts Council England. What representations have you instructed these Members to make in regard to these ongoing discussions at Arts Council England?

Have you made any representations about the decision to move 400 of its 600 staff to the private sector?
  • Wi-Fi in Museums

    • Reference: 2015/0101
    • Question by: Stephen Knight
    • Meeting date: 21 January 2015
In DD1272 the justification for increasing the Wi-Fi Museums Scheme from £1.2m to £1.75m (at the expense of the SME Broadband Voucher Scheme) is that it "will translate to economic growth in London, greater inward investment, increased visitors attraction, new jobs and employment growth." Can you explain exactly how this would be the case?
