London’s art and cultural venues like Museums and Galleries have seen reduction of 30% public funding. This together with reduction of support from Lottery Funds means London is lagging behind in its offer when compared to venues in other world cities. Tristram Hunt – Director of the V&A has called upon you to support hotel/tourist tax for overseas visitors, similar to the one levied in New York, to boost capacity of cultural venues as well as make London even a better tourist destination. Is this something you would consider?
