"The economic downturn and 'austerity measures' have coincided with a rise in bookmakers on London's High Streets, who are leeching money from Londoners, many of whom are surviving on low incomes. The sheer volume of these establishments and the nature of their business make them partially responsible for exacerbating poverty for many Londoners.
