You may be aware the recommendation to devolve responsibility for the money spent in London by the Skills Funding Agency to the Greater London Authority was in my recent Affordable Homes and Jobs report. Given that at London level this recommendation is supported by two parties of government, what specific efforts have you made to convince government of such a move?

From the £110 million of funding from the Growing Places Fund allocated by the London Enterprise Panel, £2.5 million has been allocated to support an increase in the number of employers offering apprenticeships in London. Information from the GLA's London Dashboard shows the London unemployment rate rose to 8.6% in August, and equates to 372,000 people looking for work, about 13,000 more in August compared with the month previous. This is despite the national rate going down - why is this happening on your watch?
