Thousands of London hotel room attendants work for housekeeping sub-contractors. According to Unite the Union, hotel chains such as Hilton and Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) contract their housekeeping service providers to invoice by the number of rooms cleaned, rather than by the hours worked. Attendants have to increase their productivity rate to achieve minimum wage, and often work far beyond their finish time to meet targets for no extra pay. Will your proposed Fairness Unit investigate this sort of exploitative business practice?

I have been informed that, since the evidence was collected nearly two years ago in the preparation of your joint study with Southwark Council, there has been a further influx of businesses. Will you update your data to accurately reflect the current economic activity?
