In December 2016, the GLA recommended that Fairlop Waters and Fairlop Plain Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) be upgraded to a Site of Metropolitan Importance (SMI). In December 2016, the GLA also recommended upgrades and/or further surveys at the following Sites of Nature Conservation (SINCs) in Redbridge: Claybury Park Grassland, Hainault Lodge LNR, and Roding Valley Park. Redbridge Council has indicated that they are waiting for further GLA guidance and data before undertaking a review of their Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINCs), which have not been reviewed since 1997.
