    A report to the GLA Oversight Committee on the State of London Debate 2023, tabled on 24 May 2023, states that “disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated, with a right of non-admittance to previously known protagonists.” Could you tell me: a) what is the definition of a “previously known protagonist”, b) who will identify “previously known protagonists” ahead of the event and how, c) will “previously known protagonists” be informed that they have been identified as such ahead of the event, d) what third parties will be engaged in the security of the event in addition to the GLA security...

    On their way into the State of London Debate 2022, a number of young people from Green New Deal Rising (GNDR) were identified by a plain clothes official who recognised their faces and called out their names. The young people involved are understandably concerned about how they came to the attention of the security teams at the event. Could you explain how the campaigners were identified, and do you share my concerns that this kind of invasive security looks repressive and secretive?
