  • Met Police Enhanced Retention Scheme

    I understand that last year, the Met created the ‘Enhanced Retention Scheme’ which would allow officers who would have ordinarily retired, to then re-join the Police after retirement. This was so they could retain officers in specialist posts, so that experience and skills were not lost whilst struggling to recruit new officers and retain officers with less service. This scheme now seems to have closed. Given that the Met Police Service has been ‘haemorrhaging’ officers in the last few years, why was this scheme closed so quickly?
