  • Healthy streets in every borough

    • Reference: 2023/3945
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 12 October 2023
Do you think it is acceptable that many boroughs in London are not making progress on healthy streets?
  • Addressing inequalities in Coronavirus response (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 10 June 2021
Siân Berry AM: These are questions about transport and inequality. Mr Mayor, you can answer this first. We spoke about TfL’s deal the other week. I think you would agree with me that Londoners with the lowest incomes and with the most disadvantages have suffered the most due to the impact of these funding deals. I am thinking particularly about fare rises and the suspension of free travel before 9am for people holding Freedom Passes and 60+ London Oyster cards. Would you agree with me on that?
  • Coronavirus vaccinations for prisoners

    • Reference: 2021/0489
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 25 February 2021
According to figures reported by HM Prison and Probation Service, it appears that the number of prisoners contracting coronavirus doubled during January 2021. Given the infection risk posed to prisoners, staff, and subsequently the families of staff, do you agree it would be efficient and effective to vaccinate all members of a prison population at the same time, and will you lobby the Government to vaccinate prisoners in this way?
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [2]

    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Siân Berry AM: Thank you very much, Chair. I want to start with Martin Machray if that is all right. I know that we have just discussed the fact that London has been behind in vaccinating the over-80s and the fact that there are differences between boroughs. It has, I think, been hard for both you and us to get up-to-date, detailed, borough-by-borough data collated at a London level, and I just wanted to check what your progress was on making that data available to us so that we can keep an eye on things on a more day-to-day basis...
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Delivery in London (Supplementary) [4]

    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 04 February 2021
Siân Berry AM: Thank you for coming here, Minister. I have been looking at particularly the £23 million that was allocated by the Government to local authorities and charities last week on 25 January [2020]. This is money for the Community Champions to give vaccine advice and boost the take-up. Looking at the list, it seems that some of the boroughs within London who have not received money are some of the boroughs that have some of the highest populations of minority ethnic groups, in terms of numbers, and some of the most deprived boroughs. I can see Enfield, Croydon...
  • Sexual health home testing kits

    • Reference: 2020/0068
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 16 January 2020
A constituent has informed me that home testing kits for sexually transmitted infections are currently being rationed in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. What can you do to ensure all Londoners have access to this testing option?
  • Sickle Cell and fuel poverty

    • Reference: 2018/2552
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 19 October 2018
What specific actions are you taking, under your Fuel Poverty Action Plan published in June 2018, to address fuel poverty among people in London with Sickle Cell disease?
  • Youth suicide in London

    • Reference: 2018/2485
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 13 September 2018
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to the Brent Centre for Young People in north London, under a Freedom of Information request, show the overall number of suicides registered in London increased by 48 per cent in 2015/16 compared with 2013/14. Will any of the funding given to organisations from your Young Londoners Fund support young people at risk of mental health problems and/or possible suicide?
  • Sexual Health in London (2)

    • Reference: 2018/0830
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 22 March 2018
Thank you for your response to my question 2017/4367. I was encouraged to see your response say: "all Londoners, and in particular individuals at risk of poor sexual health, [will] have access to services that meet their sexual health needs no matter where they live in the capital." However, recent data shows that an estimated 600 people a week are being turned away from oversubscribed sexual health clinics in just one NHS trust in London, with other services also oversubscribed. What will you do to help speed up the introduction of new services?
  • Cancer care for BAME Londoners

    • Reference: 2017/5020
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 14 December 2017
According to the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey by Macmillan Cancer Support (reported here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-42050450 ), black and minority ethnic Londoners and those who live in deprived areas, report worse experiences with cancer care. As part of your responsibility for reducing health inequalities, what will you do to address this?
