    Marina Ahmad AM: Thank you, Chair. Good morning, panel. Enver, you spoke earlier about ESOL provision. As you know, ESOL provision was cut through Government austerity by almost 60% before the devolution of the AEB. What impact has this had and should the Government dedicate additional funding to the AEB to rectify the shortfall?

    Dr Onkar Sahota AM (Deputy Chair in the Chair): Thank you. I am now going to ask a question in my own right. It is to Hannah. Failure to access to healthcare is not only detrimental for the individual but it also has public health challenges for Londoners. We have heard access to healthcare come up a number of times in the proceedings this morning. Has the GLA been doing any work on helping refugees and asylum seekers access the NHS system? If yes, what has that work been?

    Will you join me in thanking Councillors and council staff across Lambeth and Southwark for their work throughout the recent period of national mourning and their role in ensuring the queue for the lying-in-state of Queen Elizabeth II, which was mainly in the two boroughs, was safe and secure? As you will know, due to pressures to maintain street cleanliness, many parks and street cleaners in Southwark and parts of Lambeth worked an extra 24 hours during Queen Elizabeth’s lying-in-state period.

    Beryl Carr is 100 years of age and still serving behind the cash register and making drinks at Friends Café in Ealing Hospital in my constituency. She started as a volunteer at the café 18 years ago when she moved to London after her husband died. Beryl said she knew no-one, so it became a lifeline for her. How does the Mayor encourage volunteering in London? What learning has been made from this and how can it be improved?
