The Health and Safety Executive has said that Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) is now beyond its lifespan and may: “collapse with little or no notice”. Have Transport for London (TfL), London Fire Brigade (LFB) and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) all assessed their estate to ensure that the buildings they own do not contain any RAAC and, if they have found any related risks, what are they and what actions are being taken?

  • Question and Answer Session: Refugees in London (Supplementary) [7]

    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 07 September 2023
Siân Berry AM: Thank you very much, Chair. My first question is to Hannah Boylan from the GLA Migration Team. Like my colleague, Caroline [Russell AM], I also met with the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, who raised a separate issue about asylum seekers living in Home Office asylum accommodation. The guidance from the Home Office says that category 2 health hazards should be made safe within 24 hours and fixed within five days, but I have heard countless examples of Migrant Help - which Caroline [Russell AM] discussed earlier - failing to respond to complaints and help...

    • Reference: 2021/0036
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
In your answer to my question 2019/14230 you told me that, to date, no recruitment for Transport for London (TfL) had been name-anonymous but you planned future changes to support this. Have these changes now happened and does TfL now use name-anonymous shortlisting in recruitment?
  • Update on name-anonymous recruitment in the GLA group (2)

    • Reference: 2021/0037
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 21 January 2021
Can you confirm whether shortlisting for recruitment in all GLA bodies is now name-anonymous, including recruitment done through partner bodies, outsourced specialist recruitment agencies and for any other work programme, such as apprenticeship schemes run by the GLA and Transport for London (TfL)?
  • Communication with national Government

    • Reference: 2020/2167
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 16 July 2020
On your regular LBC phone-in on 12 June 2020, you said you are no longer attending COBR meetings and were learning what was going on from Government press conferences. Now that these have ceased, how do you hear about changes in policy and guidance from national Government?
  • Emergency decision-making during the coronavirus crisis

Will you be providing a record or log of all the additional emergency decisions made as part of the lockdown process, for example the decision to temporarily suspend the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), as you do already do with ordinary Mayoral and Director’s decisions? And will the information about these decisions contain a) reasons for the decision, including objectives and expected outcomes, b) a time limit or review date for the measures, c) equality impact information (even if brief), d) legal comments, and e) financial impact information?

  • Update on name-blind recruitment in the GLA group

    • Reference: 2019/14230
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 18 July 2019
With reference to my question 2017/2811, since your 2018 review of name-blind recruitment in the GLA, what proportion of, and how many, recruitment processes in each of the GLA group of organisations have used name-blind shortlisting for job applicants? Are any future changes planned to procedures in each organisation to increase this proportion?
  • Sponsored content on the Mayor's twitter account

    • Reference: 2019/12047
    • Question by: Siân Berry
    • Meeting date: 20 June 2019
On 3 June 2019, you posted a video message on the @MayorofLondon twitter account that was filmed and sponsored by Elle magazine ( https://twitter.com/MayorofLondon/status/1135548243604049920 ). Clearly this message concerning women's rights and President Trump’s poor record was worthwhile and important, but under what arrangement was it sponsored by a commercial organisation, and was any payment made to you or the GLA? Do you have further plans for commercially sponsored content on this public communication channel and, if so, what guidelines will you use for which are appropriate companies to work with?
