    Barking and Dagenham Council’s response to the fire at De Pass Gardens was commendable. 30 minutes after the initial reports, the Council’s emergency support team was on location, within 2 hours, a rescue-rest centre had been set up and by midnight, the Council had secured a bed in the Borough for every resident who needed it. With the help from Go-Ahead busses and the council’s own passenger transport services, residents were taken to where they needed to be.
