What measures are the Metropolitan Police taking to ensure that their procedures in dealing with young people do not serve to dent their confidence in the police?

Following research carried out by the Superintendents' Association of England and Wales which found that six in ten female officers in the senior ranks say their male colleagues are "not well informed" on gender issues with half of women officers not confident to report sexual discrimination, what processes do the Metropolitan Police have in place to ensure that gender equality is up to standard?

After a year of enforcement in Ilford Road to tackle prostitution - which, as a result, meant sex workers were pushed into working in less safe areas or were criminalised and so forced to remain in prostitution - prostitution is again on the rise in this area, and one sex worker has tragically died. Is it time to admit that this police policy has failed and that a long term holistic response, which assists sex workers to make choices that will allow them to eventually move away from prostitution, is preferable?

Alarming news was released this week that suggested that there have been 27 allegations of child abuse for perceived witchcraft so far for this year, and 148 such allegations over the last decade. Can the Mayor let us know what he and MOPAC are doing to ensure that children are protected from such abuse, and does the Mayor believe that London must take the lead on tackling the cultural assumptions that underlie this type of crime?

My report, Shadow City, proved in its Return on Investment model that proactive work would provide long term savings around trafficking and sexual exploitation and so avoid these huge inquiries. In Shadow City, I spoke to stakeholders who could name specific parks and schools in London where the sexual exploitation of children was taking place. Would the police be willing to proactively investigate these cases?
