    • Meeting date: 15 March 2024
Constituents have raised with me questions relating to historic child abuse covered in a February 2024 investigation by the Shirley Oaks Survivors Association (SOSA) and the Daily Mirror. The article details the shocking sexual abuse of two former Lambeth care children by a Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officer along with claims of a conspiracy to cover it up. In light of the fact more victims have come forward who suffered sexual abuse by MPS officers, do you believe it is just or appropriate for the MPS to rely on time limitation to prevent the individuals from getting justice, especially as...

    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 15 March 2024
With regard to Operation Boxster’s stated aim: “To adopt a partnership approach balancing enforcement, intelligence and engagement around police contact with sex workers improving the lives of ‘sex workers’ and communities” and the underlying principle that: “Policing starts from a position that seeks to address vulnerability and exploitation,” could you tell me how many sex workers’ lives were improved by getting arrested by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)?
  • Sex worker arrests (4)

    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 15 March 2024
The National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) encourages officers not to “start from a position that treats sex workers as criminals simply for being sex workers or engaging in practices that have been undertaken to increase their own personal safety, such as, ‘managing or keeping brothels.’” How are you ensuring that this is put into practice by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)?

Thank you for your answer to my question 2024/0405, in which you said: “Owing to the way in which public order event data is captured, it would be impracticable to manually search Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) records for this answer.” Why is it possible to “manually search Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) records” for Just Stop Oil protests and not for other kinds of protests?

  • CONNECT screen reading (2)

    • Reference: 2024/1216
    • Question by: Caroline Russell
    • Meeting date: 15 March 2024
Thank you for your answer to my question 2024/0399. I’ve been told Disabled Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officers have said the engagement process during the CONNECT implementation did not go far enough, and that they were worried about being penalised for poor performance, or managed out of their roles due to the lack of accessibility aids for CONNECT. Do you agree that involving Disabled officers and staff at the start of any project that would affect them is the best thing to do and will you encourage the MPS to make more use of co-production models when dealing with equality...
